Description

WEST COAST AQUACULTURE GROUP LTD was incorporated in Australia with the goal of establishing an international presence, particularly supply chain in marine fish products. It is the holding company of West Coast Aquaculture (M) Sdn Bhd, an aquaculture and fish breeding company based in Malaysia.

West Coast Aquaculture (M) Sdn Bhd commenced its inshore wooden cages fish farming operations in June 2012 with only 200 cages at Langkawi, Malaysia. The number of cages increased to 300 in August 2015, 500 in June 2016 and 1,000 cages in April 2019.

Initially, West Coast focused only on growing Grouper and its Hybrid species. In June 2015, West Coast introduced and farmed Red Snapper, followed by Barramundi in April 2016.

West Coast initially focused on distribution and sales in Langkawi, but as the number of farm cages increase, the Company started doing more sales in mainland Peninsula Malaysia.

By May 2018, West Coast managed to secure direct sales of live fishes in wholesale quantities to Hong Kong and West Coast has since managed to secure 5 major wholesale clients from Hong Kong.

Current fish species farm includes various species of Grouper (including Pearl grouper, Tiger Grouper, Beauty Grouper, Giant Grouper and Green Grouper), Red Snapper and Barramundi. Annual total output capacity is above 500 metric ton.

The produce are now being marketed live and fresh and frozen to the local market and exported to Singapore and Hong Kong.

The company has continuously being receiving the following certification:

  1. Good Aquaculture Practice (MyGap) for Marine Finfish Culture in Cages
  2. Fish Quality Certificate for Quality Control of Fish for Export to the European Union
  3. Malaysia Agro Excellence Award 2019 for Outstanding Quality Product
