Zarina is a former partner of Ernst & Young Inc. She joined the Absa group in 2002 and was an executive director of Absa Bank, a member of the group’s executive committee, and Head of the Private Bank. She has previously chaired the South African Public Accountants’ and Auditors’ Board and the South African Auditing Standards Board and has been a board member of the Accounting Standards Board and a member of the JSE GAAP Monitoring Panel. Zarina has previously served as a non-executive director at several companies including the South African Institute of Chartered
Accountants, Kumba Iron Ore Limited, Sun International Limited, Vodacom South Africa Proprietary Limited, Mercedes SA and the Financial Services Board. Zarina was appointed as the senior independent non-executive director of Investec plc and Investec Limited on 1 April 2018.
