Ms. Tana L. Utley has been an Independent Director of Woodward, Inc. since June 1, 2023. She has been Vice President of the Large Power Systems Division at Caterpillar Inc. since October 01, 2013. Ms. Utley served as the President of Perkins Engines Company Limited since January 1, 2013. She served as a Vice President of Industrial Power Systems & Growth Markets Division – UK and Country Manager for UK Operations at Caterpillar Inc. since January 1, 2013. She also served as a Vice President of the Industrial Power Systems & Growth Markets Division at Caterpillar Inc. until October 1, 2013. She joined Caterpillar Inc., in 1986 and served in a variety of engineering and management positions. She led the Electronic & Electrical Systems business unit in Caterpillar’s Motion & Power Control Division. She served as Director of Engine Design, Large Engine Products & Fuel Systems Division at Caterpillar Inc. Her technical career has been focused primarily on solving the challenges of reducing diesel engine emissions following the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and equivalent global regulations. She has played several key engineering and leadership roles in the development of near-zero-emissions engines, and she has held general management positions in Caterpillar’s components and engine businesses. She has a wealth of knowledge in engineering, operations, and implementation of new programs. She serves as Caterpillar Representative to the Diesel Technology Forum in the US and the Energy Technologies Institute in the UK. She has been a Director at SPX Technologies, Inc. (formerly known as SPX Corporation) since September 2015. She is a Member of the Society of Women Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers. She was recognized as one of 122 women in the US who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers. She is the recipient of the Suzanne Jenniches Upward Mobility Award from the Society of Women Engineers and an honorary Doctor of Technology degree from Loughborough University. In 2006, She entered the Sloan Fellows program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Utley holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bradley University and a Master of Science in Management from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management where she was a Sloan Fellow.
