Shirley is an acclaimed human resources practitioner who has held senior positions in the corporate and public sectors. She holds a doctorate from Harvard University and was formerly the head of human resources at Woolworths Holdings, Standard Bank South Africa, Nedbank Group and the South African Revenue Service. She currently provides consulting and advisory services in human resources, transformation, leadership and education. Shirley serves on the boards of Sanlam, MTN South Africa, Afrocentric, AdvTech, WWF and V&A Waterfront, where she is the chairman.
Dr Zinn also serves as the Independent Chair at the V&A Waterfront and WESGRO. Other directorships include serving on the boards of MTN South Africa, the Boston Consulting Group SA, the Spar Group, the SpurCorp and WWF South Africa, Tuesday Consulting, Empowerment Capital Investment Partners, and Business Engage. She is also the Chair of the Nedbank Eyethu Community Trust, and a Trustee on the Roland Greaver Foundation and the Make Difference Foundation.
Dr Zinn holds a BA degree and a PGDip in Education from the University of the Western Cape, B.Ed (Hons) (UNISA); M.Ed from the University of the Western Cape; as well as Ed.M and Ed.D from Harvard University.
