After training in banking and studying business management in Dortmund and Amsterdam, Mr. Verhoeven started his career with what is now thyssenkrupp AG. Initially working at company headquarters in the areas of finance and accounting, Mr. Verhoeven took up various managerial posts in connection with the construction of a steel plant in Brazil starting in 2005.

Mr. Verhoeven then worked for thyssenkrupp in the USA and in Brazil as Head of Controlling/Head of Finance before being appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Brazilian subsidiary in 2012.

Before joining Aurubis, Mr. Verhoeven was Chief Financial Officer with thyssenkrupp Electrical Steel GmbH, a subsidiary of the thyssenkrupp corporation in the steel sector with a workforce of 1,800 in Germany, France and India.

Mr. Verhoeven has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Aurubis AG with effect from January 1, 2018.
