Mr. Sklar’s career began in institutional sales and investment banking at Wood Gundy – predecessor to CIBC World Market (1984-1990), where he became Vice President of Investment Banking in 1988. He then served as Vice President at the Canada Development Investment Corporation (1990-1993), managing a portfolio of Crown corporations and supporting the federal government’s privatization program. In 1993, Mr. Sklar joined Nesbitt Thomson (predecessor to BMO Capital Markets) and became a top-ranked Senior Equity Research Analyst, specializing in automotive and consumer stocks until his retirement as a Managing Director in May 2023. He has received numerous industry recognitions, including rankings from the Brendan Wood International Survey and the StarMine Analyst Awards for his expertise in small cap/special situations, consumer products, and automotive components. Since retiring from BMO in May 2023, Mr. Sklar has been involved in consulting work in the area of micro-mobility vehicles.
