Mr. Alves, 68, has been a director since November 2015 and was a non-voting Board observer from July 2015 to November 2015. Between 2002 and 2003, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Centennial Communications Corporation and from 2000 to 2001 served as President and CEO of PointOne Telecommunications, Inc. Mr. Alves currently serves on the boards of directors of Assurant, Inc., a publicly-traded global provider of risk management products and services; and Yum! Brands, Inc., a publicly-traded company that develops, operates, franchises, and licenses a system of quick-service restaurants. Mr. Alves also serves on two private company boards: Sorenson Communications (Chairman) and Ariel Alternatives. Mr. Alves served on the board of International Game Technology PLC, a manufacturer and distributor of microprocessor-based gaming and video lottery products and software systems from 2015 to 2020. He previously served on the boards of directors of GTECH Holdings Corporation from 2005 to 2006, Herman Miller, Inc. from 2008 to 2010 and International Game Technology Inc. from 2010 to 2015. In 2017 and 2021, Savoy magazine recognized Mr. Alves among Savoy’s Most Influential Black Corporate Directors. Mr. Alves received a B.S. in Industrial and Labour Relations and a J.D. from Cornell University.
