Mr. Mitchell D. Steenrod, also known as Mitch, has been an Independent Director of CarMax, Inc. since January 2011 and serves as its Lead Independent Director since June 25, 2019. He had been an Independent Director of Recharge Acquisition Corp. since September 2020 until 2022. He served as Chief Financial Officer of Pilot Travel Centers LLC (doing business as “Pilot Flying J”) since 2004 until 2018, Chief Information Officer since 2006 and has been its Senior Vice President since April 21, 2007 until 2018. Mr. Steenrod served as Vice President of Pilot Travel Centers LLC since 2004. He joined the Pilot in 2001 when Pilot and Findlay, Ohio-based Marathon Ashland Petroleum merged. Previously, he spent extensive years with Marathon Oil Company and Marathon Ashland Petroleum in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in accounting, general management and marketing. He had been with Marathon for several years. Mr. Steenrod joined Pilot in 2001 as controller and treasurer. He has served as treasurer of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Knox County. He serves on the boards of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, East Tennessee Foundation and Covenant Health. Mr. Steenrod’s extensive retail industry and operational experience. He holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Bowling Green State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
