Mr. J. Michael Shepherd, J.D. serves as President and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Discover Bank and Discover Financial Services since April 01, 2024. He has been Director of Pacific Mutual Holdings Company and Pacific LifeCorp since July 8, 2008. He serves as Director of Operation HOPE Inc. He served as Director of NYC2012, Inc. Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Bank Policy Institute. He also served as a Director of First Hawaiian, Inc. since 2016 until September 5, 2018 and of Pacific Life Insurance Company, where he is the Lead Director. He served as a Director at First Hawaiian Bank until September 5, 2018. He is a Member of the Advisory Boards of FTV Capital (formerly known as FTV Management Company, L.P.) and Promontory Inter-financial Network and the Council on Foreign Relations. He is active in community affairs, including current service as a Member of the Business Executive Council of the University of California. He served as a Member and President of the Federal Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Board and as a Director of the Presidio Trust and as a Director of The Clearing House. He has extensive experience in public service, regulatory and financial housing policy as well as top-tier commercial and retail banking leadership. Mr. Shepherd served as a Director at Financial Services Roundtable. He received the HOPE Silver Rights Vision Award in 2015 and was the 2013 Recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award of B’nai B’rith International.
