Mr. Coutu previously served as a director of Brookfield Corporation (formerly Brookfield Asset Management Inc.) from 2006 to 2022. A resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mr. Coutu is the past Chairman of Syncrude Canada Ltd., a former President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Oil Sands Ltd., Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Gulf Canada Resources Limited, and has held a number of senior roles in corporate finance, investment banking, mining and oil & gas exploration and development. Mr. Coutu is a board director of IGM Financial Inc., Power Corporation of Canada, Great-West Lifeco Inc. and the Calgary Stampede Foundation Board. He is a member of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, a past member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers and a past member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta. Mr. Coutu holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geology from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario.
