Dr. Eng. Makoto Fujishima serves as an Executive Director at DMG Mori Co., Ltd. since March 22, 2019. He serves as Executive GM of Quality HQ, Director in charge of Quality at DMG Mori Co., Ltd. Dr. Fujishima served as Managing Director, Executive officer of Information Technology HQ and Director of Mori Seiki Co. Ltd. After graduating from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Doshisha University in 1981, he started his career at Mori Seiki Co., Limited (current DMG MORI Co., Ltd.). In 1997, he developed control systems such as Human Machine Interface as manager of Control Technology Department. He earned his Ph D in Engineering at Kyoto University in 2002. He was appointed as Director in 2003 and Executive General Manager of Development Headquarters in 2005. In 2008, he moved to the United States as Chief Executive Officerof Digital Technology Laboratory. After his return to Japan, he led procurement for 2 years, before again taking responsibility in development to head business collaboration with AG. He was appointed as R&D Headquarters’ President in 2019. He re-organized the development system from machine models-based to elementary technology-based structure. He promotes the development of innovative products and elementary technology.
