Appointed to the board of Aviva plc on 1 December 2020. Jim has significant experience in financial services and group strategy and transformation. Jim was previously Group Finance Director of Phoenix Group, where he was responsible for all aspects of the Group’s financial strategy and management and during which he led the transition programme bringing Phoenix and Standard Life Assurance together to improve capital efficiency. Jim was also previously a Non-Executive Director of Tesco Bank. Prior to that he was Chief Financial Officer of Northern Rock from 2010-2012, with responsibility for all aspects of finance and treasury strategy and operations and before that he worked for Lloyds Banking Group plc (formerly Lloyds TSB Group plc) in a number of senior finance and strategy related roles. Professional qualifications and memberships. Jim is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and undertook an Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School. Jim is a Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland and the Leuchie Forever Fund.
