About

Jan Swartz is Executive Vice President, Strategic Operations, for Carnival Corporation & plc. one of the world’s largest leisure travel companies. In this role since June 2023, she has led Strategy and Global Ports & Destination Development, Alaska-Yukon Land Operations, Government Affairs, and Global Communications.

Previously Swartz was Group President, of Holland America Group, for three years, overseeing Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and P&O Cruises Australia – four of the nine world’s leading cruise lines in the Carnival Corporation portfolio. Her responsibilities also included Holland America Princess Alaska and shared professional services.

Swartz was promoted in December 2016 to the role of Group President of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia. This included shared services for the Carnival Corporation brands operating in and sourcing from Australia and direct oversight of the P&O Cruises Australia brand.

She was appointed President of Princess Cruises in November 2013, after more than 15 years of working with the cruise line. Before this, she served as Executive Vice President overseeing the line’s sales, marketing, and customer service operations, a position she held since 2009.

In leadership roles at Princess, Swartz has been at the forefront of the cruise industry in developing innovative programs, like the personalized MedallionClass® experience, award-winning Princess Academy, and business-building tool OneSourceCruises.com. She also led Princess Cruises’ expansion throughout Asia.

Previously, she served as Senior Vice President of sales and customer service for both Princess and Cunard, beginning in 2004. In 2001, she was appointed Vice President of strategy and business development and worked on the P&O Princess acquisition by Carnival Corporation.

Swartz has served on various advisory boards for the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA). Additionally, she served as President of the Princess Cruises Community Foundation, a non-profit public benefit corporation that provides financial and in-kind support to charity and relief organizations.

In March 2018, Swartz was appointed to the board of directors for MGM Resorts International.
To help tackle the global mental health crisis, Swartz co-founded The Goodness Web as a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization in March 2019. The Goodness Web aims to activate networks of great leaders with big hearts, who are impatient for change, and who are willing to make bold bets on the promising solutions that we know exist in the world of mental healthcare.
