He graduated in medicine and surgery in Italy in 1988, and has held senior leadership positions at Abbott Laboratories and Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) in several European countries and the US. He was CEO of BMS from 2015 to 2023 and Chair of the company’s board of directors from 2017 to 2024.
