Frank Werneke, born on April 5, 1967 in Gadderbaum, grew up in Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock near Bielefeld, is a trained packaging mechanic.
Frank began his professional career in 1986 as a packaging mechanic at Graphia Hans Gundlach in Bielefeld. After completing his civilian service, he was Federal Secretary of the Printing Industry and Newspaper Publishing Section of IG Medien from 1993 to 1998. He was then a member of the Executive Board of IG Medien until 2001, responsible for the printing industry and newspaper publishers, paper processing and vocational training and technology. He has been a member of the ver.di Federal Executive Board since 2001. From 2002 to 2019, he was initially Deputy Chairman and Head of the Media, Arts and Industry department, also responsible for the areas of self-employed workers, membership development, finance, financial organization, asset and investment management. He has been Chairman of the Federal Executive Board since 2019.
