Frances F. Townsend is Senior Counsel and former Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Activision Blizzard (interactive gaming and entertainment), a company she has been with since December 2020. Ms. Townsend also currently runs her own independent consulting business. During her tenure at Activision Blizzard Ms. Townsend also previously served as Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to that, she served as Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and chaired the U.S. Homeland Security Council from May 2004 until January 2008. She also served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Combating Terrorism from May 2003 to May 2004. Prior to serving the President, Ms. Townsend was the first Assistant Commandant for Intelligence for the U.S. Coast Guard and spent 13 years at the U.S. Department of Justice in various senior positions. Ms. Townsend is a board member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Trilateral Commission, and is currently a director of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. and Leonardo DRS, Inc. During the past five years, Ms. Townsend served as a director of Scientific Games Corporation, SciPlay Corporation and The Western Union Company.
Ms. Townsend brings to the board extensive public policy, government, regulatory and legal experience as well as a strong background in domestic and international affairs, risk management, strategic planning and intelligence and security matters. Ms. Townsend also has significant leadership experience through her various senior roles in U.S. government, including as chair of the U.S. Homeland Security Council. Ms. Townsend’s public board experience also contributes to her value as a director.
