Erich Clementi was born on December 5, 1958 in Bolzano (Italy). In 1982 he graduated from the Leopold-Franzens-University in Innsbruck (Austria) with a Diploma in Business Administration.

Following his graduation, Erich joined IBM, where he was responsible for sales, strategy, product business and services business in various functions and countries for over than 35 years.

Until 1995, Erich worked in IBM sales in various technical and sales positions for the financial sector in Italy. From 1995 to 2000 he was responsible for sales in the financial sector in Central Europe and Russia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. From 2001 to 2005, he was initially responsible for sales of all IBM hardware in Europe, before assuming worldwide product responsibility for the IBM mainframe business from New York from 2003 to 2005.

In 2005 he was entrusted with the worldwide development of the new IBM Business Process Outsourcing division. In 2009, as IBM Vice President Corporate Strategy, he was charged with developing IBM’s cloud strategy. From 2011 to 2014, he was Senior Vice President of Global Technology Services, IBM’s largest business unit, which sells and delivers all of IBM’s IT services worldwide.

From 2015 to 2017, as IBM Senior Vice President Global Markets and Chairman IBM Europe, he assumed regional responsibility for the entire IBM business in North America and Europe. Until retirement from IBM in April 2019, Mr. Clementi served as IBM Senior Vice President Global Integrated Accounts and Chairman IBM Europe.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of E.ON SE, becoming Chairman in May 2023.

He also joined the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG in May 2020, with his term lasting until the 2025 Annual General Meeting.

Clementi’s extensive experience and leadership roles in major companies highlight his significant contributions to the business world.
