Ms. Cafritz currently serves as Executive Vice President, Chief Innovation and People Officer at CarMax, Inc., the nation’s largest retailer of used automobiles, a role held since July 2024. Ms. Cafritz joined the CarMax legal department in 2003 and during her time with the company has served in various roles of increasing responsibility across a number of diverse functions. During her tenure in the CarMax legal department, Ms. Cafritz managed commercial and consumer litigation, was responsible for operational regulatory guidance and led CarMax’s government affairs program. In 2017, Ms. Cafritz was named Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer for CarMax and its workforce of approximately 30,000 employees, and in 2021, she was named Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer. In 2022, Ms. Cafritz was promoted to Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer. Prior to joining CarMax, Ms. Cafritz was a Partner at McDermott, Will & Emery LLP.
