About

David Wormsley worked in investment banking for 35 years. His last position at Citigroup was chairman, UK banking and broking when he retired in March 2021.

Throughout his career, Mr Wormsley worked and lead a wide variety of corporate transactions in the UK and internationally, including IPOs and equity fundraising, both public and private, mergers & acquisitions and debt financing. He has advised the boards of a broad range of companies in almost every market sector and of every size, including many FTSE100 companies.

During his period of management, Citigroup successfully acquired and integrated the majority of ABN Amro’s broking business. The corporate banking operations were also consolidated alongside investment banking and broking to form the UK Banking and Broking business, with client revenues of some $1.5bn and assets of circa $10bn. Under his leadership, the Citigroup UK M&A franchise has ranked in a leadership position in the market.

He is currently a non-executive director of Stanhope plc and a Governor of the Museum of London. He holds an economics degree from Downing College, Cambridge.
