David Barnes is the former senior vice president, chief information and global business services officer of United Parcel Service Inc. (UPS), a role he served in from 2011 to 2016. From 2005 to 2011, he served as senior vice president and chief information officer for UPS, one of the world’s largest global package delivery company, a provider of global supply chain management and advanced logistic & health care solutions, and an operator of one of the world’s largest airlines. In his role as CIO and a member of the UPS Management Committee, David was responsible for all aspects of UPS technology in over 220 countries and territories. He also chaired the UPS Information Technology Governance Committee, which is responsible for global technology strategy, architecture, mobility, hardware design, and research and development. In addition, he was responsible for information security, served as co-chair of the Enterprise Risk Committee and was a member of the UPS Corporate Strategy and the Finance committees.
