Arne Christian Karstens, born on 18 September 1983 in Adendorf, is a German national who serves as a First Officer on the A320 for Deutsche Lufthansa AG. He studied Engineering and Business at TU Berlin and KAIST in South Korea from 2003 to 2007. Following his studies, he trained as a commercial pilot at Lufthansa Flight School in Bremen from 2007 to 2009.

Karstens began his professional aviation career with Germanwings, serving as a First Officer on the A320 from 2009 to 2014, during which time he was also a Member of Staff Representation Cockpit from 2013 to 2014. He then joined Deutsche Lufthansa AG as a First Officer on the A320 in 2014.

Since 2018, Karstens has been a Member of the Group Tariff Committee of Vereinigung Cockpit. In 2021, he took on the role of Chief Financial Officer of Vereinigung Cockpit. As of 2023, he is a Member of the Lufthansa Group Tariff Commission of Vereinigung Cockpit. On 29 July 2023, he was elected to the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, with his term lasting until the Annual General Meeting in 2028.

Throughout his career, Karstens has demonstrated a strong commitment to both his piloting duties and his roles within pilot representation bodies, showcasing his leadership and dedication to the aviation industry. He currently holds no additional memberships in domestic or foreign supervisory boards required by statutory law.
