Experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated 29 year history of success in the mining & metals industry. Strong operational management and business turnaround and leadership professional with a B Sc(Eng) Honours from University of Zimbabwe, an ADP from London Business School and AMP from GIBS.
He has just spent 6 years as the CEO of Lonmin PLC, the then third largest and only LSE-JSE dual listed PGM Producer. During his tenure at Lonmin, he restructured and returned Lonmin to profitability and subsequently consolidated the company into Sibanye-Stillwater.
Ben’s entire professional career has been in the mining and energy industries gaining extensive management and leadership experience in both underground and surface mining as well as soft and hard rock mining.
A turnaround enthusiast, Ben’s broad experience includes life-of-mine planning, mine management, project management, corporate strategy, business and market development, restructuring, customer and employee relations, exploration, finance, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, human resources, community and civil society stakeholder engagement, and, national and international government relations, including policy formulation.
