Dr. Astrid Stange, born on 27 December 1965 in Witten, Germany, is the CEO of ELEMENT Insurance AG. She studied economics at Ruhr University Bochum from 1984 to 1989 and earned her doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the Technical University of Braunschweig in 1993.
Dr. Stange began her professional career as a research assistant at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 1990 to 1993. She then moved to Bertelsmann Buch AG, where she served as an assistant to the CFO from 1993 to 1995. Following this, she became the Head of Direct Marketing Services for the DACH Region at Bertelsmann Buchclub Germany from 1995 to 1998. From 1998 to 2014, she was a Senior Partner and Managing Director at The Boston Consulting Group GmbH.
In 2014, Dr. Stange joined AXA Versicherung AG as an Executive Board member responsible for Strategy, Human Resources, Organization, and Customer Management. By 2017, she had become the Group Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Management Committee at AXA SA. She also served as CEO of AXA Group Operations SAS from 2018 to 2021.
Since 2022, Dr. Stange has been leading ELEMENT Insurance AG as its CEO. Additionally, she has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG since 5 May 2020, with her term extending until the Annual General Meeting in 2025. She also holds board positions at Atos SE in France, Sampo plc in Finland, and Moody’s Investors Service Ltd. in the UK.
