Alberto Bradanini is a former diplomat. He graduated in political science from the University of Rome La Sapienza in 1974. He entered a diplomatic career in 1975, holding various positions at the Farnesina and abroad, including Belgium, Venezuela and Norway. Seconded to the United Nations became director of Unicri, United Nations Research Institute on Crime and Drugs (1998-2003).

He worked extensively in China, spending ten years of his life at various times: Commercial Counselor at the Embassy in Beijing (1991-1996), Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong (1996-1998), Coordinator of the Committee Italy-China Government Committee at the Farnesina (2004-2007) and finally Ambassador of Italy in Beijing (2013 to 2015).

Alberto Bradanini – commanded by the Farnesina – was also in charge of Enel’s international institutional office (2007-2008), and Ambassador of Italy to Tehran from August 2008 to December 2012. He is currently President of the Center for the Study of Contemporary China.

Alberto Bradanini is the author of several articles and books, including “Beyond the Great Wall,” Ed. Bocconi 2018; “China, the irresistible rise,” Ed. Sandro Teti, 2022; “China, from Nenni’s humanism to the challenges of a multipolar world,” Ed. Anteo, 2023.
