Dr. Alain Lemaire, Ph.D., co-founded Cascades Inc. and had been its Executive Chairman since May 9, 2013 until May 09, 2024. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Cascades Inc. from 2004 to May 9, 2013. Dr. Lemaire served as an Executive Vice President at Cascades Inc. from 1992 to 2004. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Norampac Inc. from November 1998 to December 2004. He serves as the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors at R.D.M. La Rochette S.A.S. (formerly known as Cascades S.A.S.). He served as the Chairman of Cascades Fine Papers Group Inc. (formerly, Rolland Inc.). Dr. Lemaire’s qualities as a man of action have earned him numerous distinctions, not only in the regional and national business community, but also in the environmental and social sectors. One of his most recent awards in 2004 was that of Grand performant which he received at the annual gala of Les nouveaux performants. Commerce magazine named Dr. Lemaire personality of the month, in January 2004 and also named him most daring of the month? in October 2006. He awarded the distinction of Entrepreneurs l’honneur 2007 from the Fondation de l’entrepreneurship. The daily newspaper La Presse also named him personality of the week to underline his dedication to environmental concerns at Earth Day 2007. Dr. Lemaire is an Officer of the Order of Canada and was named a Chevalier de l Ordre National du Quebec in 2015. In 2008, he holds an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Sherbrooke (Quebec). Dr. Lemaire studied at the Institute des petes et papiers de Trois-Rivieres (Quebec). He received an Honorary Doctorate in Civil Law from Bishops University in Lennoxville (Quebec) in 2013, and Doctorat Honoris Causa de University from University Laval (Quebec) in 2017.
