In terms of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, Brimstone is required to publish a trading statement as soon as it is reasonably certain that the financial results for the six months ended 30 June 2025 (the “current period”) will differ by at least 20% from those for the six months ended 30 June 2024 (the “prior comparative period”).
For the current period, Brimstone expects to report:
Earnings per share (“EPS”) of between 100.4 cents and 112.5 cents, compared to a loss per share of 121.2 cents reported for the prior comparative period, representing an increase of more than 100% in EPS for the current period.
The increase in EPS is mainly due to the substantial increase in the profitability of Sea Harvest Group Limited (“Sea Harvest”) in the current period and the net loss on deemed disposal of R562.1 million recognised in the prior comparative period upon the loss of control of Sea Harvest 1.
Headline earnings per share (“HEPS”) of between 95.1 cents and 102.3 cents, compared to HEPS of 71.9 cents reported for the prior comparative period, representing an increase in HEPS of between 32% and 42% for the current period.
The increase in HEPS is mainly due to the substantial increase in the profitability of Sea Harvest.
In addition, the reduction in Brimstone’s finance and operating costs contributed positively to the increase in EPS and HEPS.
Shareholders are advised that the financial information on which this trading statement is based has not been reviewed or reported on by the Group’s auditors.
Brimstone’s results for the current period are expected to be published on SENS on or about 2 September 2025.
